If you’re looking to get into building your own portable boombox without starting completely from scratch, the DIY Kit 1.0 is an awesome starting point. Definitely recommended for both beginners and experienced builders alike.
The spacer fit perfectly in the Apache 2800 case and lined everything up exactly how it should. Installation was straightforward, even for someone newer to DIY boombox builds. The included parts felt solid and well designed, and the waterproof 6x9 speaker delivers surprisingly loud and clean sound for such a compact setup.
Kit contents were great and fit perfect, made my first build in a 2800 a piece of cake. Only complaint would be that I wish I knew a 2.0 was being released right after, would have loved to get the speaker grill also but still very happy with the results.
Great product very easy to put everything together especially using the video on YouTube. It has great sound quality. I am using a 1002t amp and it works great with it. This is my first box and it was an enjoyable experience since the included spacer keeps everything in the center because of the groves that match up with the bumps on the 2800 Apache case. Just this morning I did not latch the case and the lid fell open but the speaker did not break even though I have not put a grill on yet. If I had one thing to say bad abt it was the time it took to get to my house but that is not the sellers fault. Also, what would make this kit even better is if it included a grill in the kit.
